Dirt Roads to Petroglyphs
We heard that there were petroglyphs out in the desert. It turned out that we had ridden by them on our way into Uspallata a few days prior. The turnoff was just another unremarkable dirt road. This day we went back and took it.
Sunset over the High Andes
The petroglyhs are situated in a broad valley, between the front range of the Andes and much higher summits to the west. It was late in the afternoon and cloudy, although some blue sky showed up briefly.
Stone by Stone
The site consists of panels of petroglyphs on many stone surfaces around a small rocky prominence - the best way to see them all is to start low and clambor upward.
